English I

This one-year college preparatory course is intended for students with average and above average ability. It is designed to develop skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, with an emphasis on literary terms and their application in literary discussion and analysis.

 

The course includes an introduction to literature with a study of literary types, as well as basic research skills with an emphasis on source citation. An introduction to Greek and Latin roots and derivatives comprise the focus of vocabulary building and decoding skill development.
