UHS MIDDLE COLLEGE

A Unique Dual Enrollment Experience

MC

Ukiah High is proud to offer this unique opportunity to 10-12th grade students interested in a one-of-a-kind dual enrollment college experience.  The Ukiah High Middle College program, in partnership with Mendocino Community College, hosts a small community of UHS students and teachers on Mendocino College’s campus.  Students enroll in both high school and college courses.  Becoming a Middle College student means investing in your future, financially, and academically. Our dual enrollment program is highly successful and we encourage students who are motivated to apply.

Why Choose Middle College?

    • Accelerate Your Education: Students who start from the sophomore year can earn 24+ college units that are transferable to the UC and CSU university systems. This means many of our alumni have a jumpstart on their four year degree and some start college already halfway through their degree!
    • Personalized Learning: Once students complete their A-G courses, they begin to specialize in fields that interest them because they have access to all the courses on Mendocino College’s campus.  Science, Psychology, History, Mathematics, Agriculture, English and much more- students may choose to take higher level college courses in subjects that interest them most.
    • Flexible Scheduling: Enjoy the freedom to create a school schedule that allows for on-campus college classes and events during your high school day.
    • Save Time and Money: You will also save money in the short and long run.  Our program covers the cost of books and tuition for Mendocino College courses. With the 24 + transferable units students earn, they save on years and tuition at their four-year colleges.
    • Dedicated Counseling Services: Students have access to a UHS Middle College counselor, Mendocino College counselor, UHS social-emotional counselor, and/or Mendocino College Mental Health counselor.
    • Small Learning Community:   We pride ourselves in how we customize student academic and social supports, including mentoring, designed specifically for Middle College students. Our student to teacher ratio is small, so every student receives the support they need and we ensure they find success.
    • Activities and Clubs: We encourage students to identify their interests and support their endeavors in exploring these interests.  Our Middle College Student Organization leads community building activities where all students have the opportunity to participate.  We have several student-led clubs on campus including chess and fiber arts.  Field trips are organized every semester where students visit a university campus.  Students can also join our Academic Decathlon team.
