Spanish I

Course Description

Spanish I is designed for academically-oriented students with little to no prior experience with the Spanish language. It is a college preparatory course that focuses on the 4 language learning goals: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students learn a range of introductory level vocabulary involving themes such as school, shopping, pastimes, and family structure.

Students will be competent using the present tense and the simple future (“going to”). Graduates of the course will be able to follow simple instructions in Spanish and be able to ask and answer simple Spanish questions in complete sentences. Daily homework and class participation form an important part of the student’s grade.

Prerequisite: English with a C or better.
