French I

French I is designed for students with little to no prior experience with the French language. It is a college preparatory course that focuses on the 4 language learning goals: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

 

Students learn a range of introductory level vocabulary involving themes such as school, the supermarket, pastimes, and family structure. Students will be competent using the present tense, the future (“going to”) and will be introduced to past tenses such as the preterit and the imperfect. Graduates of the course will be able to follow simple instructions in French and be able to ask and answer simple French questions in complete sentences.
