Musical Theater Workshop
Course Description
Students will study the elements of musical theater, including the creation of lyrics, composition of music, the techniques of dance and how the development and design of productions has changed through the decades. Throughout this course, students will learn and use domain specific vocabulary to evaluate performances, form informed opinions and intentionally research applicable topics.
Students will be introduced to a variety of song types and how they serve to develop the story, develop characters, provide comic relief, and function in ways that impact the audience. Students will research the composers and the many difference eras of musical theater, providing them with insight into how it was evolved over the century.
