Horticulture

Course Description

This course is designed to meet the needs of the advanced agriculture student.
 
Students will acquire a broad understanding of horticulture and develop an awareness and appreciation for the myriad of career related opportunities in horticulture. Students will experience the opportunity to work cooperatively within groups, as well as develop and expand leadership abilities.
 
The major portions of the course include the following:
  • Identification and Nomenclature of Plant Species
  • Sexual and Asexual Propagation Methods
  • Soil and Plant Management Practices
  • Disease Prevention.
 
Participation in FFA activities and a Supervised Agriculture Experience Program (SAEP) are important parts of the class and will be part of your grade. 
 
Elective Credit only 
 
Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Science or Sustainable Agriculture.
